Where can I go for a test ride?

Check the store locator for the nearest QWIC point of sale.

In which QWIC store is my ideal e-bike available?

Unfortunately, QWIC is not able to see which e-bikes are currently available in the different stores. However, we advise that you contact your nearest dealer. To do so, you can find an overview of our stores here.

You can visit any QWIC dealer for a free test ride. Check the QWIC store locator for your nearest point of sale. It is best to contact them in advance to make an appointment.

Is it a good idea to purchase the bicycle online?

How long does it take for my electric bicycle to be delivered?

What is the correct frame size for me?

When purchasing a bicycle, it is important to choose the right frame size. Take your inseam measurement. If you multiply your inseam measurement with 0.68, the result is your correct frame size. Don’t forget to remove your shoes when measuring. If you choose an e-bike equipped with a suspended seat post, you can deduct 4 cm from the frame size, as it compensates this height difference.

Is it possible to personalise the bicycle after purchase?

QWIC delivers its electric bicycles as displayed on the website. Adjustments to suit your personal requirements can be done by the authorised QWIC dealer after purchase. This should always be directly communicated with the dealer. Inquire about the options and costs in advance to avoid any unexpected expenses or uncertainties.

Yes, certainly. Selected child seats fit depending on whether you have the MIK or MIK HD rear carrier on your QWIC e-bike model (e.g., seats of the brands Yepp or Urban Iki).

The fitting of child seats was taken into account in the design. This makes our modern electric bicycles suitable for the whole family. We recommend asking your QWIC dealer for advice when selecting a child seat. It may not always be possible to install a child seat in the front if the e-bike has a front-end carrier.

Up to how many kg can I load my e-bike?

Our QWIC electric bicycles can carry up to 160 kg (depending on the model). This means, that the total weight of rider and potential luggage should not exceed this weight. However, some of our bikes only allow loads up to 140 kg and the QWIC Compact has a maximum capacity of 130 kg. Additionally, the front carrier allows 10 kg, while the back one can manage 20-25 kg (depending on the model). All our QWIC dealers are experts and know, which of the carrying capacities are applicable to which e-bike.

What is the maximum speed of an e-bike?

Does one particular QWIC e-bike run faster or further than the other?

In the Netherlands, the maximum speed permitted with an electric bicycle is 25 km/h. All QWIC e-bikes are set to this speed. However, the powerful engine-support will make it easier for you to reach higher speeds than you are used to. We recommend trying the bicycle in a low-traffic environment to get used to it first. Important to know: riding at a higher speed reduces your range.

The total distance you can travel with your QWIC e-bike without charging in between is the range. To assess this properly, you should leave the battery connected to the charger for a full night. The range must be measured in one trip, and not spread over multiple days.

Battery capacity
The amount of energy in a battery is expressed in Watt hours (Wh).The number of Watt hours is calculated by multiplying the nominal Voltage (36V) by the number of Ampere hours (Ah). The higher the number of Watt hours, the higher the range!

Example: Assume that your battery has a capacity of 10 Ah and a current of 36 Volt. This battery provides: 10 Ah x 36 V = 360 Wh.

QWIC provides bicycles with 375 Wh, 470 Wh, 625 Wh and 735Wh batteries. You can find this specification at the bottom of the battery pack.

Important: Batteries always lose power over time, even if you do not use the e-bike. Also,  if the battery pack is connected to the bicycle constantly, it runs out significantly faster than when it is removed while you are not using the e-bike.

There are a number of factors that may reduce the range drastically. You can anticipate many of these factors to positively influence the range. Ask your dealer for personal advice. Factors that impact the range:

  • The total weight (weight of bicycle + rider + potential extra load)
  • Resistance (wind, tyre pressure, acceleration, clearance, road conditions and height differences)
  • Your riding behaviour (timely shifting and speed)
  • Outside temperature
  • Age of the battery pack (the battery capacity decreases as the pack gets older)
  • The use of power assistance programs

What is pedal assistance?

With pedal assistance switched off, the bicycle has very little resistance when cycling. This makes it possible to also use our e-bikes as regular bicycles. Please note that if you are riding without battery, the lights will not work. However, if the battery pack is active in the bicycle and you leave the assistance level at “0”, the light will work.

What is the difference between a mid-drive, front hub and rear hub motor?

E-bikes with a front hub motor are often cheaper than the ones with mid-drive – whereas the middle motor has a low centre of gravity and thus guarantees equal weight distribution. If you prefer a smoother and more natural drive, a rear wheel motor is recommended.

How do I switch support on or off?

As soon as the control panel is switched on, the pedal assistance changes to “0”. Then, the “PLUS” and “MINUS” buttons can be used to increase or decrease it. Levels ranging from “1” to “8” are possible – position “8” provides the highest assistance level. You can also switch off pedal assistance completely by pressing the “MINUS” button until reaching “0”. Please note, that the battery runs out faster at a higher pedal assistance level than at a lower one.

When does my battery have the highest capacity?

The capacity will increase at least during the first 10 charging cycles (e.g. to about 1000 km for the 625Wh battery), and only then will it reach the indicated full capacity. It is possible that two identical bicycles that were purchased at the same time each have a different range. However, new batteries always reach at least their specified performance. As there are slight variations, it is possible that some bicycles perform better than expected.

How long will my battery pack last?

Can I also ride the bicycle without a battery pack?

The bicycle is equipped with electric pedal assistance. The motor supports your own efforts, so your performance improves with less exertion. The pedal assistance depends on pedal rotation as well as on the speed. Therefore, without pedalling, the motor does not do anything. Especially when starting up, the motor provides high acceleration to support your takeoff.

How do I get the most out of the battery?

Immediately report the theft to the police. To do so, you will need the frame number of your e-bike. You will find it in the papers you received with the purchase. If you have registered your electric bicycle online, you also received all the necessary data, including the frame number. If the e-bike is insured, you can provide the insurance company with proof of the report from the police for further assistance.

When is a first service required?

A first service is recommended after 250 km or three months. Additional service is recommended if you think it is necessary, for example before the start of the cycling season or if a long bike ride is planned.

  • Wheel and tyre check (wobbles in wheels, spoke tension, tyre pressure, tyre profile)
  • Check any mounting parts/bolts/nuts and tighten if necessary
  • Check brake pads for wear and tear, adjust cable tension, check brake functioning
  • Check the bearing head for play, check stem mounting and adjust if necessary
  • Clean the chain, tighten it and lubricate with Teflon spray
  • Electric system: Fully charge the battery, clean the step sensor with lukewarm water and a sponge, treat contacts with contact spray, lubricate the battery terminals and the battery rail with acid-free petroleum jelly. Also check, if everything works properly
  • Derailleur: Check if all the gears run smoothly and adjust if necessary

What does “major maintenance” include?

QWIC recommends that you have major maintenance performed on your electric bicycle at least once a year.

  • Major maintenance is an addition to regular maintenance:
  • Disassemble, degrease, lubricate and mount the chain and cassette
  • Disassemble, clean, re-lubricate, adjust and assemble hubs
  • Spoke tension check (and tightening if necessary) & wheel alignment
  • Tyre check (inflate if needed)
  • Disassemble, clean (and re-lubricate if necessary) and fit the bottom bracket axle
  • Chainset and pedal check (tighten if needed)
  • Disassemble, clean, lubricate and mount the derailleur pulleys
  • Disassemble, clean, lubricate, fit and adjust the inner cable of the brake and the gear
  • Gear check & lubricating shifters
  • Brake check & lubricating brake levers
  • Lock check (lubricate if needed)
  • Bicycle stand check (lubricate if necessary)
  • Check lights for proper operation and adjust if necessary
  • Disassemble, clean (and re-lubricate), fit and adjust the bearing head
  • Disassemble, clean, re-lubricate the handlebar stem, fit it at the correct hight and adjust if necessary
  • Remove the seat post, clean it (and add an acid-free layer of petroleum jelly if necessary) & fit it at the correct height
  • Re-tighten the saddle
  • Provide the bicycle with a protective (wax) layer
  • Test ride to check if everything works properly

What is a Beltdrive? A Beltdrive is a carbon-toothed belt that replaces the chain. The Beltdrive is quiet, clean and extremely durable. It doesn’t require lubrication and it runs particularly smooth. With this system, you can safely park your bicycle after a long trip through wind and rain, and use it again a few days later for the next trip – minimal maintenance.

What is the difference between a front, middle and rear motor?

E-bikes with a front hub motor are often cheaper than the ones with mid-drive – whereas the middle motor has a low centre of gravity and thus guarantees equal weight distribution. If you prefer a smoother and more natural drive, a rear wheel motor is recommended.

The battery pack is the most important component of the e-bike. This is mainly due to the fact that it has the shortest life span compared to all other components – so treat the battery with care.

A number of tips to help you:
– When charging the battery, it is important to only plug the charger into the socket, when the battery on the other end is already connected.
– When there is no charge left in the battery, it is best to recharge it as soon as possible.
– To extend the life span of the battery pack, try to not completely drain it.
– Charge the battery at room temperature.
